Moving from Pixieset: importing a gallery from a ZIP file
Download a gallery from Pixieset as a ZIP and import it into Flyp in one go: sets become sections, with no photo-by-photo uploading.
Pixieset has no public API, so Flyp doesn’t connect to your Pixieset account. You move a gallery in a ZIP file that you download from Pixieset yourself and then upload to Flyp.
Step 1. Download the gallery from Pixieset
- In the Pixieset dashboard, open Client Gallery and the collection you are moving.
- Click the download icon in the top right corner of the collection, just as a client would. If the collection needs a download PIN, you’ll find it in the collection settings (Settings, Download).
- Select all sets (Sets) and choose the original size (Original, on higher Pixieset plans) or, if it isn’t available, the highest resolution offered.
- Pixieset prepares the archive and emails you a link. Very large collections are split into several ZIP files: download all of them.
Step 2. Copy the client’s favourites (optional)
The Pixieset archive doesn’t include favourites. If the client marked favourites, open the collection in Pixieset, then Activities and Favorite Activity, open the menu next to the list and choose “Lightroom Copy List”. Copy the list of file names.
Step 3. Import the gallery in Flyp
- In Galleries, click “Import from Pixieset (ZIP)” or go straight to the import.
- Drag in the ZIP files, all parts at once. The gallery name is suggested from the file name.
- Choose the gallery type and the session: an existing one or “New session” if the gallery isn’t in any Flyp session yet.
- Paste the favourites list if you have one, and click “Start import”.
What happens during the import
- The archive is uploaded in parts. Keep the browser tab open until the upload finishes, but you can move to other screens of the panel.
- If the connection drops, click “Resume upload” in the gallery list and choose the same files: only the missing part is sent.
- Flyp checks your plan storage before the upload and again after reading the archive, before saving the first photo.
- Unpacking runs in the background, and its progress is shown in the gallery list. You can close the page at that point.
What you get
- Folders in the archive (Pixieset sets) become gallery sections. Photos outside folders appear under “No section” in the panel.
- Photos in each section are ordered by file name in natural order (IMG_2 before IMG_10). The archive doesn’t carry an order you arranged by hand in Pixieset, so adjust it on the “Photos” tab if needed.
- RAW and HEIC files are converted to JPEG, as with a normal upload. Videos, PDFs and other files are skipped and listed in the “Skipped files” report.
- Photos from the favourites list are marked as selected by the client.
- The gallery is created unpublished, with your studio defaults. Check the sections, set a password, publish and send the link (how to do it).
If something goes wrong
- Not enough storage in your plan: free up space, buy extra storage or change your plan, and click “Retry”. Photos saved earlier won’t be duplicated.
- Cancelling midway: photos saved up to that point stay in the session, and no gallery is created.
- An upload left unfinished for 48 hours expires and has to be started again.
